East Canton (On the Highway since 1913) Pop: 1,600

East Canton (pop: 1,600) Originally Osnaburg until citizens changed it's name in World War I because it sounded too German, East Canton was laid out in 1806 as the second village in Stark County. It rivaled Canton in growth until Canton was selected the County Seat in 1808.

  • Near the Cedar St. and Nassau St. intersection is a concrete Lincoln Highway post. One of only three such posts still at their original location in Ohio.
